Haggai | Historical Background Part 2

The Old Testament book of Haggai picks up in the reign of Darius the king. Specifically in the second year, the sixth month, and in the first day of the month. While this gives us a fairly specific date, at least in reference to the reign of Darius, it doesn't reveal much about how we got here. There was a long process, in excess of one hundred years that relate directly to our arriving historically here in the book of Haggai. Join me as we track down Judah's biblical history.

The lives of far too many Americans are financial disasters. Decisions are not always made with the best interests in mind. People rarely make choices that are economically sound, nor do they show apprehension about spending money they do not have. The current bubble that is America, at least in theory, allows and even promotes such eccentric lifestyles. Living beyond means available to support feelings based on impulsive buying or trying to keep up with neighbors, who may be deeper in debt than is known. All with a vision and desire for financial freedom, people live in financial straight jackets, deep underwater holding their breath, and kicking their feet wildly to stay afloat. By following biblical principles, we are encouraged to soberly consider clear scriptural instruction for life's direction. When clear and specific instruction isn't available, we examine the decision, subject, or person in light of the fruit they have produced over time. I submit that ample, clear instruction exists regarding perverted ideas like abortion. "Conservatives” and “republicans” struggle with this matter in terms of moral reasoning, but they have no basis for such reasoning. I encourage such an one to provide a standard of truth for these struggles, trust God, for the word of the Lord is right and all his works are done in truth. But, I do understand conservative republican and Christian are not the same. Considering that the word of God and loss of life are not enough to deter, I recommend abortion be examined based on its history and the fruit it produces.
